The Wisdom in Your Voice
A Wisdom Conversation with Amie Breedlove
There’s a pretty good chance you’ve already heard Amie Breedlove’s voice. Today, you will hear her wisdom.
If you’ve used the self-checkout at Target, that’s Amie reminding you not to forget your receipt. Before voice-over became her full-time career, she spent years in radio in West Virginia and Alaska. Her work today spans commercials, corporate projects, e-learning, video games, character voices and voice coaching.
But this conversation goes well beyond the microphone.
Amie and I explore the wisdom of voice, attention and health—what it means to notice what your body is telling you, to make room for stillness, and to appreciate the ordinary things that are easy to overlook when life moves too fast.
Her stories range from a childhood cassette recorder and a career in broadcasting to tai chi, nature, family loss and a health journey that changed the way she experiences everyday life.
Why This Episode Matters
Sometimes the things worth hearing aren’t the loudest things.
Amie’s story invites us to pay closer attention—to our surroundings, to the people we love, and to the signals coming from within.
Her health experiences have even changed the language she uses around ordinary chores. Instead of “I have to,” she increasingly thinks, “I get to.” Grocery shopping. Cooking dinner. Even cleaning the toilet becomes evidence that today she is able to participate fully in life. That shift stayed with me.
A Memorable Quote
“It’s so funny because I didn’t really think about it. I just kind of moved through life.” — Amie Breedlove
